Donation Policy Memorial – Honorial – Undesignated A memorial or honorial gift is a donation to commemorate or pay tribute to loved ones who share in the mission of the Richfield Historical Society. Remembrances of a beloved friend or family member become a lasting gift for the community through the work of the Richfield Historical Society. These gifts along with any undesignated donations will become part of the general donation fund and will be used for projects outside of the general operating budget. Designated donations are accepted only after approval has been given by the Richfield Historical Society Board of Directors. A contribution form should be filled out in order that proper notification can be made by the Richfield Historical Society. Honorial and memorial gifts will be acknowledged in a specific book in which the names of the honored or memorialized individual and donor will be recorded. A letter will be sent to the honored individual or to the family members of those memorialized informing them of the donation. A letter of appreciation will also be sent to the donor. Donations to the Richfield Historical Society of stocks/bonds/securities are encouraged. The Richfield Historical Society retains the right to hold/sell such securities at its discretion. There may be significant tax advantages to donations of this kind. Your financial advisor should be able to give you complete information. The Richfield Historical Society is able to receive these donations through an account with the investment firm of Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. Contact Will Hessenauer, treasurer, for more information. The Richfield Historical Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. All gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
